Crews make some progress on NM’s largest wildfire as it continues to spread
The fire grew to 113,734 acres with over 50% of Bandalier National Monument’s Land burnt. As of Saturday Morning the fire was 6% contained. The coordinated efforts of Air and Ground Attack was paying off. Chief Doug Tucker reported great news that the Fire Lines in the Pajarito Ski Are were holding soit is looking more optimiatic for Los Alamos.
Probably the best news of all was the Rain thar swept across that the Area. It was well deserved. This leads into the the Headlines for Sunday morning, July 3, 2011

KOB TV Reported the Great News that though the “Las Conchas Fire has grown to 121,000 acres, and continues to burn near Los Alamos, the nearly 2000 personnel are battling the blaze. It is now 11% contained.” Los Alamos County reports that, “as of 8 a.m. Sunday, residents are allowed to return to their homes. State Road 4 remains closed west of Drive South and all access points to the Jemez Mountains and from Los Alamos County remain closed.” All things considered, This is GREAT NEWS FOR NEW MEXICO…KUDOS TO OUR FIRST RESPONDERS. Thanks for averting what could have been a CATASTROPHE
